About Elaine
Elaine Bredl believes that healing begins with understanding. At the heart of her work is a simple but powerful idea: people make sense when we take the time to understand who they are, what they've experienced, and how they've learned to navigate the world. Rather than approaching differences and difficulties as problems to be corrected, Elaine invites curiosity, compassion, and connection as the foundations for meaningful growth.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Play Therapist, and Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, Elaine works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She has a particular passion for supporting neurodivergent individuals and their families, helping people better understand themselves, strengthen relationships, and develop ways of living that honor their authentic needs and identities.
Elaine's therapeutic philosophy is deeply rooted in humanistic psychology, particularly the work of Carl Rogers and Abraham Maslow. She believes that people possess an inherent capacity for growth when they experience relationships characterized by safety, acceptance, empathy, and genuine connection. Her role as a therapist is not to prescribe who someone should become, but to create the conditions in which they can discover and develop their own capacities.
Her approach is also developmental and relational, recognizing that emotional regulation, communication, social engagement, and self-understanding emerge through relationships and meaningful experiences. Elaine is especially interested in the ways that differences in sensory processing, communication, emotional awareness, and nervous system regulation influence how people experience themselves and connect with others.
Elaine has extensive training in play therapy and developmental approaches, including Child-Centered Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, AutPlay Therapy, and DIR/Floortime. She integrates these perspectives with training in Brainspotting, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT), Narrative Therapy, and expressive and creative approaches. Rather than relying on a single method, she draws from these frameworks to respond to the unique developmental, emotional, and relational needs of each person.
Before becoming a therapist, Elaine worked in education, earning a master's degree in reading education and training as a secondary school teacher. This background continues to inform her understanding of learning, development, disability, and the importance of adapting environments to meet individual needs. She recognizes that struggles often emerge not simply from characteristics within a person, but from a mismatch between that person's needs and the expectations or supports available in their environment.
Elaine's commitment to neurodiversity-affirming care is both professional and deeply personal. Her experiences as a neurodivergent clinician and parent have strengthened her dedication to helping individuals and families move beyond deficit-based understandings of autism and ADHD. She is particularly passionate about challenging the assumption that social connection, communication, emotional expression, and healthy development must look the same for everyone.
In addition to her clinical work, Elaine is an experienced clinical supervisor and mentor. As a CAMFT Certified Supervisor, she supports developing therapists in cultivating their own professional identities while maintaining a strong foundation in ethical, evidence-informed, and relationship-centered care. She founded Every Body Heals Therapy to create a practice where clinicians and clients alike are encouraged to bring their authentic selves into the therapeutic relationship.
Elaine is also actively engaged in advocacy for greater access to neurodiversity-affirming and developmental-relational mental health services. Her work reflects a commitment to expanding the ways we understand human development, recognize meaningful therapeutic progress, and support individuals whose needs have not always been well served by conventional systems of care.
Above all, Elaine believes that therapy is not about fixing people. It is about helping people feel safe enough to be understood, connected enough to grow, and empowered to live in ways that are meaningful to them. Whether working with a child through play, supporting a family in understanding one another, or helping an adult explore longstanding patterns and experiences, she approaches each therapeutic relationship with warmth, curiosity, respect, and the belief that every person deserves to be met exactly where they are.

About Matthew
Matthew Foran believes that meaningful change begins with curiosity, compassion, and the experience of being genuinely understood. His approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that our experiences and relationships shape how we understand ourselves and navigate the world.
Matthew works with individuals, couples, and families who are seeking greater understanding, connection, and emotional well-being. He recognizes that many of the patterns we develop throughout our lives begin as understandable responses to our experiences, even when they eventually become sources of frustration, disconnection, or distress. Rather than approaching these patterns with judgment, Matthew helps clients explore them with curiosity and self-compassion.
His clinical interests include relationship difficulties, anxiety, emotional regulation, identity development, life transitions, and the influence of past experiences on present relationships. He is particularly interested in helping couples better understand their relational patterns, strengthen communication, and cultivate deeper emotional connection.
Matthew brings experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families across clinical, educational, and community-based settings. His clinical training at Horizon Counseling Center included providing individualized psychotherapy to clients across the lifespan, while his work with the El Dorado County Office of Education has focused on supporting families through Head Start and Early Head Start programs. In this role, he has helped families navigate challenges, access community resources, and advocate for their needs.
Previously, Matthew worked with foster youth and families at Kids First Family Services, providing psychosocial rehabilitation and support for emotional regulation, social development, and everyday functioning. These experiences have strengthened his appreciation for the ways family relationships, environments, and access to support influence emotional well-being.
Matthew earned his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Francisco. He also holds bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Reno.
At the heart of Matthew's work is a commitment to creating a therapeutic relationship where clients feel respected, supported, and free to explore their experiences at their own pace. He understands that beginning therapy can feel unfamiliar or vulnerable, particularly when someone isn't sure what they need or how to put their feelings into words. His goal is to offer a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where understanding can develop naturally, and meaningful change can emerge through connection.

Joshua "Kane" Young, MS, APCC, CRC
Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor | APCC #23670 | Certified Rehabilitation Counselor
About Kane
Kane Young believes that healing begins when people have the freedom to be themselves and the experience of being genuinely understood. His approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that every person's experiences, relationships, and ways of navigating the world deserve curiosity rather than judgment.
Kane works with individuals who may have spent much of their lives feeling misunderstood, adapting to others' expectations, or struggling to find safety and connection. He has a particular interest in supporting Autistic and ADHD individuals, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, survivors of intimate partner violence, and those navigating trauma, identity, and life transitions.
His therapeutic approach is rooted in humanistic, person-centered, and existential philosophies, with an emphasis on authentic connection, personal meaning, and respect for each client's lived experience. Kane also draws from narrative therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), integrating different perspectives to meet each person's individual needs.
Rather than viewing people's responses to difficult experiences as problems to be corrected, Kane approaches them as adaptations that often developed for understandable reasons. He recognizes that behaviors, emotional responses, and ways of relating to others may have served important protective functions. His work invites clients to explore these patterns with compassion, discover what they need to feel safe, and develop a more authentic relationship with themselves and others.
Kane brings clinical experience in trauma-informed counseling, crisis intervention, and supporting individuals with diverse developmental and mental health needs. During his clinical internship at the Marjaree Mason Center, an organization serving individuals affected by domestic violence, he provided individual counseling, facilitated therapeutic groups, and collaborated with an interdisciplinary team to support people navigating trauma and crisis.
His experience at Wayfinders further developed his interest in working with neurodivergent individuals and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who also experience mental health challenges. This work strengthened his commitment to recognizing each person's unique capacities, communication needs, and ways of experiencing the world.
Kane's dedication to disability advocacy extends beyond the therapy room. In a previous leadership and training role, he advocated for employees with disabilities and developed workplace accommodations that helped create more accessible learning environments. These experiences contribute to his understanding of how environments can either support or constrain a person's ability to thrive.
Kane earned his Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from California State University, Fresno, and holds bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Boise State University. His professional preparation includes specialized training in domestic violence counseling, trauma-informed care, and suicide assessment and intervention.
At the heart of Kane's work is the belief that therapy should be a space where people do not have to mask, perform, or have everything figured out before they begin. He strives to create a relationship built on trust, openness, and mutual respect, where clients can explore their experiences at a pace that honors their needs and discover greater connection with their authentic selves.

Our capacity for growth, self-understanding, and flourishing is not something imposed from without, but rather something that unfolds from within when the conditions are right.
Those conditions, in my experience, are authenticity, relationship, and safety.
